Sweet One

Yay for challenges! I'm really enjoying doing the Mojo Monday Challenge! It gets me creating when I otherwise probably wouldn't. I should add that I also have an insanely busy spring with wedding showers, baby showers, weddings, and LOTS of birthdays - oh, and through Easter in there too! Needless to say, cards are in high demand right now.

I may have said this before, but often times I find the layout to be the most difficult part of designing a card. I might have my colours and papers picked out, but what to do with them!?!?

Bring on the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge!

Here's what I came up with:

I used Wisteria Wonder, Concord Crush, and Basic Gray for my colour combo. The stamped image is from a hostess set Up in the Air that I borrowed from one of my team members, Lorna! Thanks Lorna for helping me make this lovely card! I coloured the stamp with the current In Colours and added a little Dazzling Details Glue to the butterflies.  (Oh, before I forget, I used White Shimmer card stock for that 3.5" circle) See the shimmer?

And that cute little crochet flower? At first I dyed it using a reinker but I only had Elegant Eggplant so it turned out a little to redish purple for my liking so I just used a Wisteria Wonder Marker and colour the top. I like how the white still peeks through making it look like two colours of thread crocheted together. As an afterthought, I stuck a basic rhinestone in the middle.

I also embossed the flag with the Adorning Accents heart embossing folder. This is such a versatile product! Works great for little accents as well as envelope flaps, and card edges and I'm sure much more that I am yet to discover! The leaves are actually punched from the 5-petal punch and I creased, curled, and sponged. I adhered the flower on the card with a glue dot.

So that's it! Hope you liked today's challenge card! I had a great time making it. Best part, it was probably an under 30 minute card and if you were to CASE it, it'd take even less time!

Enjoy your day!

Guest Stamper Heather!

I mentioned that I celebrated a birthday a couple weeks back and thought I'd share some of the cards I received!! I LOVE to receive handmade cards and appreciate all the effort people put in as I know how much time and focus it can take.

This card was made by Heather, a very good friend, stamp club member, and newest team member! She busted out the good stuff with those lovely bevelled windowpanes and a whole swak of pearls!

I'm definitely diggin' the colour combo of Baja Breeze, Wisteria Wonder, and Pear Pizzazz!

Most of the images are from Nature Walk, a very pretty and realistic stamp set.

Be sure to visit Heather's blog : Plays and Papercrafting!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

"Is she MIA?"

Did you think I quit? Sorry for not posting! It's been a super busy week with prepping for 2 workshops this week and attending them, multiple orders, and the END of Sale-a-bration! Phew! I'm bagged just thinking about it all! The GOOD news is that Sale-a-bration was a HUGE success. I'm sad to see it go actually. I absolutely love the Everday Enchantment paper and I'm not really ready to let it go just yet. The colour combos are so pretty and fresh.

In other news....the new 2012-2013 Annual Catalogue is being released on June 1st!! (A whole month early!) That means that in a few short weeks, the "Last Chance List" of retired products will be released! I'm looking forward to see what's stickin' around and what new and exciting things Stampin' Up! has for us!!

Today's card was created for the Mojo Monday Challenge except I missed the deadline. I had the card done and photographed but I FORGOT TO POST IT! Eek. Ah well, there's a new challenge on Monday which means I have another chance to get 'er done!

Here's the sketch:

And here's my card:

I recently purchased a super cute turquoise decorative birdhouse from Homesense and wanted to have the same idea on the card. I didn't have Tempting Turquoise embossing powder so I used Wild Wasabi (which coordinates with the Twitterpated DSP).

The background is stamped with 'En Francais' in Basic Gray. I sponged the edges of the Whisper White cardstock ever so slightly.

Some accent rhinestones add a nice touch along opposing corners along with some linen thread and a sweet marina mist brad. The birdcage panel is mounted on Basic Gray which is popped up on dimensionals.

This is inside the card (sorry it's blurry). This is for my in-laws who are celebrating their 28th wedding anniversary. I meant to cross out the "do" and write in "did" but I forgot. (happy I did day).

Overall, I'm pleased with the end result.

I'll try and get another card challenge done this week. I'm hoping things are slowing down, but this week has lots happening as well. You may very well see a baby shower card soon though as one friend had a baby last week and I'm going to another friend's baby shower this week. I think I'm just at that age where everyone around me is having babies! It's great! I can get my "newborn fix" without having to be up all night!

Hope you have a great week!
