AYSI Challenge #003

It's a little hard for me to believe that it's our third As You See It Challenge already!  We were SO happy that with how many of you participated in the first ever challenge!! Keep those cards coming! This week's sketch is a lot of fun and I think this may be my favourite card yet!

Fun, hey? 

Here's a peek:

 I like classy and elegant and this is just that! Basic Black and Very Vanilla are always in style, and the pop of Crisp Cantaloupe takes it up a notch! 

 I heat embossed the Beautifully Baroque flourish with Black embossing powder. It's prettier in person as there's a shine off of the image which makes it stand out from the rest of the card.

Today's the day!

Well peeps, the big day has FINALLY arrived! You've met all of the design team members and now it's time to be inspired and GO CREATE! We're SO excited to launch this new challenge blog and hope that LOTS and LOTS of you will play along with us!

And here's what I came up with:

 A little busier than my normal style (if I have a normal...or a style???) One of my goals this Stamping year is to use more Designer Series Paper. I order it because I love it and then I.do.not.use.it. None of it. It sits, looking extremely pretty, on the shelf never to grace the front of a card. Enter DSP. This is from the Birthday Basics pack. The colours are fun and I thought this would make a great kids card. The card is busy, kids are busy. Perfect!

 And just because I wanted to see it a bit different, I created this one. Similar but not the same.

 The Crisp Cantaloupe flags are a little long for my liking (say that 3 times fast) and I like how they look when embossed rather than plain as is here. I do, however, like those balloons. They fill up the white space a little more. The balloons are stamped off once in Smoky Slate.

Butterfly Happiness

I'm ashamed to admit to you all that there is a room in my house that has barely seen me in all week. Don't worry, it's not the bathroom. I have showered and looked after myself. It's my stamp room.  For some reason, I just haven't gone out there.  So instead, I've been pretty hooked on Pinterest lately (and the Despicable Me minion app but keep that hush hush, ok?)  I now officially have WAY too many cards pinned and nothing to show for it. I decided to change that by making this little beauty: 

It's CASEd from Teneale Williams. I had pinned this off Pinterest thinking it would be great for a quick and cute class so I simplified it a tad by not sponging anything. I still like the original better, but this one is a close second. 

The butterfly is stamped in Jet Black StazOn ink and then I used a blender pen to colour it in using the lid of the Crisp Cantaloupe ink pad. I let it dry briefly and added another layer of CC ink to intensify it. 

The "happiness" stamp is from a word set called Fabulous Phrases. It's great as there are lots of words and you can use them separately or create, well, phrases.
