Happy Birthday, Baby!

I made this sweet card for the newest addition in a very close friend's family! Little Hayden was born in May (showing how long my camera cord was lost since I hadn't uploaded these photos!). I wanted the card to be boyish, but still cute and soft. I think I achieved that this go.

What do you think? It's So Saffron, Pool Party, and Basic Gray. It was a fun colour combo to work with.  Hayden was not quite 10 days old when I met him, so I thought it was appropriate enough that I could still say Happy Birth-day! I got some snuggle time in and visited with his sweet momma. It's so good to have friends who know what it's like having toddlers at home! It's easy to feel very overwhelemed at times, but I know I have a good circle of other moms going through the same struggles. It's nice to know I'm not alone.  That's partly why I love stamping and papercrafting so much. It's a way for me to BE ME. Having young kids means doing a lot for everyone else, except yourself. Through my stamping, I've been able to escape and have "me time" almost every day. I've also met a lot of great friends (and babysitters) through stamping, which is a huge positive!

Anyways, I got a little sidetracked.

I hope you like little Hayden's first birthday card!

Just Because

I mentioned in my last post that I went on a Pinterest inspired card making binge. I'll share a few of the cards I created today. A few cards I loved so much that I just copied them exactly. No changes whatsoever.

Of course I was drawn to this card because of the yellow and gray (actually Summer Starfruit). I CASE'd this from Diane Squires at Stamp and Embellish.  There are a lot of new products too! The honeycomb folder and two tone ribbon are from the Spring Mini Catalogue, and the Sycamore Street DSP and Vintage Verses stamp set are FREE through Sale-a-bration!

You might notice the hints of white on the honeycomb texture. I rubbed a craft ink pad in Whisper White very lightly over just the raised parts being careful not to get it inside. Love it!

I love the Just because stamp with the pretty flourish. Definitely has a vintage feel to it. A lone rhinestone adorns the open space. (By the way, isn't that two tone ribbon fab?!? I love the gray and black threads and the shimmer it gives! It's even more gorgeous in person!)

Hope you're having a great start to your week! Don't forget, it's DOWNLOAD DAY! Head over to my online store to see the newest downloads

A Day at the Fair

Sometimes I think coming up with a title is the hardest part about blogging.

I didn't really go to a fair. Not today. I mean, I have been to a fair before. I just though that a fair is a likely place to see a Ferris Wheel, which is what our card's main image is today.

I CASE'd this card from my upline, Desiree Spenst. I changed up some of the colours and used a different print from the Sale-a-bration paper Sycamore Street, but other than that, the layout and elements are the same.

The Ferris wheel image from Feeling Sentimental was inked with Rich Razzleberry, Pool Party, and Island Indigo ink using sponge daubers. The Sycamore street ribbon (in Pool Party) and button (Rich Razzleberry) dress up this panel. That's one of the new Large Basic Rhinestone jewels in the centre of the button.

That's the Ticket (stamp set) contains some versatile images for all occasions. Stamp it and then punch it with the ticket duo punch and you've got an easy and fun accessory!

Here's one last peek at the whole card. Cute, eh? (Yes, I'm Canadian)

Enjoy your Friday!

Tamara
