AYSI #002

I love, love, LOVE this sketch! So much fun!! I made a goal for myself this Stampin' Up! year that I would use more Designer Series Paper.  So far, I am managing to use it on most of my projects as of late!! Today is no exception! I love how the numbers from the Soho Subway DSP pack are an important element of today's card. Fitting for a birthday, I think!

Here's the sketch:

And here's my take:

I hesitated ordering Positively Chevron (that gumbo background stamp) as I wasn't sure the chevron pattern would stick around. I'm still not "positive" it will, but I couldn't hold myself back any longer. I have a thing for chevrons.  To get the worn look, I inked up the entire stamp (it's a big one) and then just dabbed it with a scrap of paper. Lightly in some places, more pressure in others. This gave it an uneven, slightly worn effect. Easy peasy.

I also chose to use linen thread as the vertical piece of the sketch as I didn't want to cover up any of those gorgeous numbers. I'm planning to recreate multiples of this card (it didn't take long) to give to our church's Kid's Birthday Ministry. We send out over 200 cards a year to each and every child who has a birthday! We have a great team of about 8 ladies, I think ;)

...And that sweet little cupcake. Here's your closeup, Cupcake..

Again I used Sketched Birthday on this project. I've really been drawn to that set lately. The sketchy images are just fun, I suppose. I used Stampin' Write markers to colour the image Early Espresso and Crisp Cantaloupe. I pulled those colours from the Soho Subway DSP. That's a great way to coordinate your card. Just use the same colours as your DSP.

Here's one more view, just because it's fun:

Hope you enjoy the sketch challenge and that the Design Team entries inspire you to create something you love!!

Have a fun & creative weekend!

Just Because

I mentioned in my last post that I went on a Pinterest inspired card making binge. I'll share a few of the cards I created today. A few cards I loved so much that I just copied them exactly. No changes whatsoever.

Of course I was drawn to this card because of the yellow and gray (actually Summer Starfruit). I CASE'd this from Diane Squires at Stamp and Embellish.  There are a lot of new products too! The honeycomb folder and two tone ribbon are from the Spring Mini Catalogue, and the Sycamore Street DSP and Vintage Verses stamp set are FREE through Sale-a-bration!

You might notice the hints of white on the honeycomb texture. I rubbed a craft ink pad in Whisper White very lightly over just the raised parts being careful not to get it inside. Love it!

I love the Just because stamp with the pretty flourish. Definitely has a vintage feel to it. A lone rhinestone adorns the open space. (By the way, isn't that two tone ribbon fab?!? I love the gray and black threads and the shimmer it gives! It's even more gorgeous in person!)

Hope you're having a great start to your week! Don't forget, it's DOWNLOAD DAY! Head over to my online store to see the newest downloads

A Day at the Fair

Sometimes I think coming up with a title is the hardest part about blogging.

I didn't really go to a fair. Not today. I mean, I have been to a fair before. I just though that a fair is a likely place to see a Ferris Wheel, which is what our card's main image is today.

I CASE'd this card from my upline, Desiree Spenst. I changed up some of the colours and used a different print from the Sale-a-bration paper Sycamore Street, but other than that, the layout and elements are the same.

The Ferris wheel image from Feeling Sentimental was inked with Rich Razzleberry, Pool Party, and Island Indigo ink using sponge daubers. The Sycamore street ribbon (in Pool Party) and button (Rich Razzleberry) dress up this panel. That's one of the new Large Basic Rhinestone jewels in the centre of the button.

That's the Ticket (stamp set) contains some versatile images for all occasions. Stamp it and then punch it with the ticket duo punch and you've got an easy and fun accessory!

Here's one last peek at the whole card. Cute, eh? (Yes, I'm Canadian)

Enjoy your Friday!

Tamara
